The exhibition, conceived and realized for the city Fürstenberg/Havel in the context of the WorldÕs Fair Expo 2000, shows the history of the Red Army in the location of Fürstenberg/Ravensberg. The exhibition is divided into four time periods, from the liberation of the concentration camp for women at Ravensbrück by the Red Army (1945) to the presence of the Red Army on the site (1945-1993), and from their withdrawal (1993) to the conversion of the former military grounds since 1994.

For the exhibition we chose a cold store built by the Red Army in the 1980s, which together with a series of other buildings formed a striking ensemble at the northern entrance of the former barracks and which is located just outside of the wall of the former concentration camp. We left the rooms unchanged as historical evidence. The exhibition architecture comprises textile volumes which are hung as autonomous objects in the rooms and permit a visualization of the former state of the rooms. The series of graphics on the floor showing the years clarifies the structure of the exhibition. Outside, the bright coloring of the individual elements refers to the transformation of the interior. The lightness of the textile exhibition signs stands in contrast with the building substance and made it possible to realize the exhibition in spite of the low budget and the short timeframe.
